Living Your Best Life: Turning Impossibilities to Possibilites

Welcome to the First Empowered2Thrive Post!

What does "living your best life" mean to you? The answer might have many facets—some of which might even compete with each other. It could mean obtaining a certain level of education, having a family, achieving a career goal, mastering a skill, or simply being "successful." But what if living your best life isn’t about achieving success as much as it is about adopting a state of mind, like being happy?

Many people believe that success—whether personal or professional—leads to happiness. You might think, Once I get that promotion, I’ll finally be happy. But then, the happiness fades as a new goal takes its place. While there’s nothing wrong with having goals (in fact, they’re essential for growth and planning), it raises the question: How can you maintain a consistent level of happiness amid the constant pursuit of success?

“Happiness is not about being blind to the negatives in our environment; it’s about believing we have the power to do something about them.”
— Shawn Achor

Shawn Achor, in his popular and hilarious TED Talk The Happy Secret to Better Work, highlights research showing that success doesn’t lead to happiness. In fact, it’s the other way around—happiness leads to success. By practicing a positive outlook, you can shift your mindset and, in turn, create a ripple effect of joy and achievement. After all, it’s hard to be both positive and unhappy at the same time!

The shift toward positivity is a powerful first step in cultivating happiness, which then amplifies your ability to achieve success in any endeavor. This isn’t about wearing rose-colored glasses and ignoring challenges or risks. Rather, it’s about looking for possibilities instead of fixating on roadblocks. When one path doesn’t work, a positive outlook helps you instinctively seek alternative solutions. In short: Positivity → Happiness → Success!

In my next blog post - How to Shift to a More Positive Mindset - we’ll explore practical exercises and real-life examples—both personal and professional—that illustrate how this positive mindshift can be transformative on your journey.
